[edit] Overview
The Boron staple M3 fighter. The Barracuda is a sleek, fast craft with low shielding and poor weaponry (apart from the Plasma Burst Generator). Its line is considered to be the least useful in the game, although they are (to some) some of the most good-looking ships around. Unfortunately, the Boron fighters are all outclassed by their Split counterparts, and their only saving grace is their ability to use the Ion Disruptor, a weapon which is useful for stripping targets of their equipment. They are also the fastest purchasable M3 ships able to mount the Phased Repeater Gun, this highly accurate longer ranged weapon, combined with the relative higher speeds of Boron ships allow players to use a range advantage on most other equivalent M3s

[edit] Barracuda Advanced
The Advanced Barracuda is better in every way than the standard Barracuda or its other variants, with improved shielding, speed and laser generators. Its gains are not as pronounced as the dedicated variants: it is slightly slower than the Raider, but has the shielding of the Sentinel and weapon regeneration and reserves of the Vanguard, whose model it uses. A very good ship to have, if you can get it by either capturing it or finding it as a derelict. See ownerless ships for the derelict's co-ordinates.
