[edit] Overview
The ubiquitous Mosquito Missile is the most commonly used light missile. Whilst fast and with good tracking ability, it deals a pathetic amount of damage. It is commonly used for point-defense.
[edit] Commentary
Despite being virtually useless offensively except against basic fighter drones, the Mosquito missile is found on almost all craft in player fleets for its defensive capabilities. Being one of the fastest missiles in the game, it is more effective at missile defense than the stock turret scripts.
With the release of the downloadable Bonus Pack, which contains the 'Mosquito Missile Defense' script, the 'missile defense' command for turrets has become almost obsolete since the script and missiles are so effective at this job. Another important role for the Mosquito is for larger, slower ships to 'tag' faraway foes to attract them and avoid a chase.
[edit] Availability
Mosquito missiles can be found readily at most equipment docks in the Commonwealth. Factories can be purchased at some Argon, Boron, and Teladi shipyards.
